Kristy is a Licensed Professional Counselor (License # 0701006594), Play Therapist, and Certified Trauma Practitioner with a strong passion for helping individuals find peace and relief from their challenges and struggles in life. Kristy specializes in individual, couples and family therapy, and maintains a private practice in Mineral, VA. She has worked with a wide variety of adults, children and families in different stages of need over the past several years. She is goal-driven, Solution Focused, and utilizes Family Systems Theory, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, and Play Therapy/Expressive Arts interventions with both children and adults. Carrie often incorporates the use of a sand tray, Mandalas, and mindfulness exercises in her work, whether with a child, adult, family, or a couple. She has specialized training in the areas of trauma, attachment, mindfulness work, parenting, addiction, and the use of non-traditional expressive therapies. She has advanced training in Sand Tray therapy. She is being trained as an AcuDetox Specialist through NADA to perform auricular acupuncture which can be helpful to treat trauma, anxiety, addiction/cravings, and overall stress management. Kristy loves her work and wholeheartedly believes in the healing power of a trusting, collaborative, therapeutic relationship. She maintains close working relationships with other professionals in the community and actively provides individuals and families with referrals for supplemental and complementary services when deemed appropriate.
Kristy also participates in a bimonthly peer-consultation group with other licensed helping professionals to maintain and enhance her skills and to promote ongoing accountability for her clinical work.
In addition to providing therapy, Kristy also spends her time as a mother, wife, campground operator, artist, and friend.
